The Club

SELKIRK FOOTBALL CLUB FOUNDED IN 1880 IS THE OLDEST ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CLUB IN THE SCOTTISH BORDERS. THE CLUBS PRESENT GROUND YARROW PARK WAS OPENED WITH A GLAMOUR FRIENDLY MATCH AGAINST MANCHESTER UNITED .

THE CLUB HAS PRODUCED MANY HOME GROWN PLAYERS, PROBABLY THE BEST KNOWN WAS THE TOWNS OWN BOBBY JOHNSTONE WHO WAS A MEMBER OF HIBS ” FAMOUS FIVE ” A REGULAR IN THE SCOTTISH NATIONAL TEAM AND LATER TO MOVE TO MANCHESTER CITY. IN 2003 THE CLUBROOM AT YARROW PARK WAS NAMED IN BOBBY’S HONOUR, THE OCCASION CELEBRATED WITH A MATCH AGAINST MANCHESTER CITY.

THE CLUB WON PROMOTION IN 2005-2006 TO THE EAST OF SCOTLANDS PREMIER LEAGUE AND BECAME A FOUNDER MEMBER OF THE LOWLAND LEAGUE IN SEASON 2013/14.

APART FROM THE SENIOR SQUAD, SELKIRK FC ALSO BOAST A SIDE, THE VICS,IN THE BORDER AMATEUR LEAGUE, PLUS A EVER GROWING NETWORK OF YOUTH TEAMS- SELKIRK WERE THE FIRST CLUB IN THE SCOTTISH BORDERS WITH A SCOTTISH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION QUALITY ASSURANCE AWARD. SELKIRK IN 2013 BECAME THE 1ST SFA LICENCED CLUB IN THE SCOTTISH BORDERS AND ONLY THE 4TH IN LOWLAND LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
